Say “yes.” Right? Just say “yes.”
So, what does that mean? It means, say “yes” to opportunity.
Hi. I’m Jean Kuhn, and I’m here today with another business tip. Here’s what I see. I see entrepreneurs with opportunity after opportunity landing in their lap, and they’re afraid to say “yes,” so they make excuses. What does an excuse look like? Well, maybe you were invited to a conference to speak. Well, it’s going to end the Saturday before the Super Bowl. Right? I want to really be home. We’re going to have a big party. Right? So, they will not say “yes” to opportunity.
Let me tell you how opportunity showed up for me and how I took advantage of it.
Last November, I was offered a three-minute opportunity to speak on stage for $8,000. Whoa, $8,000, right? For three minutes. And a booth at a three-day conference. The problem was the conference started on Thursday, and my daughter was getting married on Saturday. So, the conference went Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Tough decision? Well, not really, right? With a little finagling, I was able to go into Atlanta. That’s right, it was out of state. I went to Atlanta, I spoke on stage for three minutes. I had my booth set up there. I brought clients in with me, and I paid for them to get there. I paid them to work my booth for the two days. I spoke on stage, and I left at the end of Thursday night so I could be home for my daughter’s wedding.
Most mothers would not do that. Thankfully, I have a really independent daughter who had everything under control. She’d been out on her own for a while. She had everything settled. I didn’t have a job to do, so why wouldn’t I say “yes” to an opportunity? So, how are you saying “yes” to opportunities, and are you missing opportunities because they didn’t come at the right time. Right? What I found out in life is most opportunities that will take you further never show up at the right time. They’re always inconvenient. And you want to know why? Because opportunity wants to know that you’re committed.
